Last updated: January 2026
TL;DR: TabSnap stores all data locally on your device. We don't collect, track, or transmit any of your personal information or browsing data.
Overview
TabSnap is a browser extension that helps you save and manage browser tab sessions. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
Data Collection
What We DON'T Collect
- Personal information (name, email, etc.)
- Browsing history or habits
- Tab URLs or page contents (beyond local storage)
- Analytics or usage statistics
- Any data sent to external servers (except optional AI features)
What We Store Locally
The following data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- Saved Sessions: Tab URLs, titles, and favicons for sessions you explicitly save
- Snoozed Tabs: URLs and wake times for tabs you snooze
- Settings: Your preferences (theme, auto-save setting)
- API Key: If you choose to enable AI features, your Claude API key is stored locally
AI Features (Optional)
TabSnap offers optional AI-powered features that require a Claude API key. If you enable these features:
- Your API key is stored locally and never sent to our servers
- Tab titles and URLs are sent directly to Anthropic's API for processing
- Communication happens directly between your browser and Anthropic
- We do not intercept, store, or have access to this data
For information about how Anthropic handles data, please review Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Data Storage & Security
- All data is stored locally using Chrome's built-in storage APIs
- Data never leaves your device (except for optional AI API calls)
- You can export your data anytime using the Export feature
- You can delete all data using the "Clear All Data" option in Settings
- Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data
Permissions Explained
TabSnap requests the following permissions:
